Use your digital SLR to its maximum potential
DSLR Training courses from just £100

We are currently running a one day photography course at Leading Imagery, which is aimed at Digital SLR users, to help you get to grips and use you digital SLR to its maximum potential, rather than setting it to automatic and hoping. We will give you the skills and knowledge to use your camera to its full potential which will be learnt in a friendly environment.

Andy Hibberd ABIPP, ANPS, ARPS photographer at Leading Imagery has been in the industry for over a decade and has photographed the weird and wonderful over this time, things as diverse as photographing the action on the front line in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the Royal Marines to studio work involving a Chinchilla! He was formally trained at the Defence School of Photography, one of Europe’s largest and most renowned photography schools.

Unlock Your Potential

One Day Basic DSLR Training Course

The one day training courses, include both theory and practical. The practical part is taught in our high street studio at Clay Cross, Chesterfield, with the theory taking part in the local area.

  • The course is designed to take no more than 10 people on any one course, so you are getting the best possible tuition throughout the day.
  • On completion of the course you will have learnt the basics help you along your way to produce some stunning imagery.
  • The course starts at 09.00 and we aim to finish around 17.00 (although they can sometimes over run a little when fully subscribed)
  • How the lens and camera produces an image.
  • Composition – How to create eye catching images.
  • Exposure – How to use the camera’s manual settings and create a correct exposure.

In the afternoon we will go out as a group into the local area, where you will be given a list of images to capture using your newly taught camera skills.

When we return to the studio a group debrief will be given on everyone’s images so you can see where you can improve. It always helps if you can also see other peoples work, and learn from what they have done both right and where they can improve.

What to bring

First and foremost you need to bring yourself along with your DLSR and lenses camera bag etc.

Whilst there will be copious amounts of tea and coffee available, and maybe a few biscuits we can’t provide you with any food for health and safety reasons, so we suggest bringing a packed up lunch. As there is a lot to fit into just one day there will be just 30 minutes allocated for lunch.

Suitable clothing for the time of year, we will be going out into the wilderness – OK maybe not the wilderness, but we will be going outside so sensible clothing and footwear for the time of year.

A notebook will be essential for the theory part of course along with a pen! We will also give you a print out of the presentation so you don’t have to worry about scribbling notes down, this way we can spend more time talking, with hopefully lots of questions being fired in Andy’s direction.

Now if you have read this far you should be surely wondering how much it would cost to attend one of our photography courses, the answer is only: £150
